People often question my desire and steadfast determination to only purchase organic and non-genetically modified foods for my family’s daily nutrition. I’ve been buying “organic” food since before “organic” became readily available. I use to drive to Toronto to a health food store on the Danforth and spend a small fortune on organic and non-GMO whole foods to feed my sweetie and I. I would do without other material things in order to afford the expense of healthy foods back then. Now organic and non-GMO options are available in almost all supermarkets and the prices have come down in response to the demand for clean foods.
It is in your healths best interest to try and seek out clean sources of fresh non-GMO, organic fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and if you eat meat….buy grass fed, local whenever possible.
Cancer has been linked to agricultural pesticides, fungicides and germicides, livestock antibiotic use etc. To give your body a fighting chance to avoid cancer I believe it is important to feed your body organic, non-GMO foods.
There are two lists of foods I am going to share with you here. First is the “DIRTY DOZEN”. These foods have the highest residue of pesticides on them and you should really seek organic options in this regard. The second list is “THE CLEANEST FIFTEEN”. This list is the foods that have the least pesticide residue. These two lists have been compiled by the “Enviromental Working Group”. The EWG is an organization that empowers people to live healthier lives. They do the homework to provide consumers who care, the information they need to make the right choices in this toxic world. I care and I listen to the EWG. Their research and subsequent opinions on many topics make up part of the foundation of my healthy habits.

So, to assist all of the people who question my determination to eat clean, I hope these two lists help you to eat cleaner to give your precious body a fighting chance to stave off the BIG C. Of course there are no guarantees in life but let’s stack the odds in our favor.
