A book I recommend to anybody wanting to make a change to better nutrition to ward off serious illness and just get healthy. The book “HOW NOT TO DIE” by Michael Greger, MD, with Gene Stone is a must read.
The book is nicely laid out in chapters about each of the serious diseases facing our society today and how you can take nutritional steps to increase your odds of NOT dying from these diseases.
The book talks about HOW NOT TO DIE from:
- heart disease
- lung diseases
- brain diseases
- digestive cancers
- high blood pressure
- liver diseases
- blood cancers
- kidney disease
- breast cancer
- suicidal depression
- prostate cancer
- Parkinson’s disease
- iatrogenic causes such as by doctor, prescription drug errors etc.
Then the book goes into chapters about Dr. Greger’s DAILY DOZEN foods he recommends we include in our daily routine to insure we live as healthy as possible.
I really enjoyed reading it. I learned quite a bit of new information from it. And…I have incorporated the DAILY DOZEN into my nutritional arsenal as much as I can, improving as I go. I pretty much ate most of the foods Dr. Greger favours for good health. I wasn’t doing this daily before reading the book. Now I am trying to live the DAILY DOZEN way.
If you are looking for a well written book, easy to understand, without all of the scientific jargon most nutrition books include, then I recommend this great book full of valuable information to keep you and your family healthy.
