We all wake up January 1st hopeful and optimistic that this year will be better than last year. We make promises to ourselves and our loved ones that this is the year I’m going to do better, be better….and on and on and on it goes.
Why not change your approach and wake up with a “gratitude list” rather than a “resolution list”.
The best way to bring positivity to your life is to be thankful for what you already have.
Here is a list of things as written in a community newspaper that we don’t even give a moments thought to. If we did pay attention to these things we would be much better off.
1. If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more fortunate than the one million people who will not survive this week.
2. If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of the world.
3. If you can attend a church or a political meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death then you are more blessed than three billion in the world.
4. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in your pocket, then you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.
Start each day this year thinking about what you are grateful for. Keep a journal if you like.
There are so many things to be grateful for. What you focus on becomes bigger. So if you focus on gratitude think of the bounty of goodness that will come your way.
Including this simple gratitude exercise in your morning routine on a daily basis will have a profound effect on your day-to-day living. It may even help you to finally achieve success with that resolution you keep setting each January 1st.
My wish for you in this new year….2016:
– good health
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
