I AM VEGAN. I have been for several years now. I love eating this way. It is healthy…that is one reason. Another reason I have become vegan is that I love animals so much that I get sad when I think of the tortuous ways the mainstream food industry is treating animals to get meat and dairy for human consumption.
Being vegan has enabled me to lose 25 pounds effortlessly and keep it off. I’ve been the same weight now for 5 years and don’t ever have to stress out about whether I am going to gain weight as a vegan. It isn’t going to happen. Everything I put in my mouth is healthy and nutritious and low fat. I hardly ever consume anything with saturated fat in it. Any fat I consume is good fat such as omega 3 – 6 – 9. I get the right balance of these essential fats on a daily basis. As a person with Multiple Sclerosis I must eat a low fat diet and following the vegan way helps me to maintain the right levels of fat intake to help me keep my disease in check.
The Standard American Diet….I refer to it as the Standard North American Diet….is dumbing down people regarding health and wellness. It is very obvious that heart disease, diabetes, cancer, strokes etc. are on a very rapid incline. These nasty diseases are striking people at very young ages now.

33% of all Americans die from cancer
8% of all Americans die from diabetes
Every 25 seconds someone in America suffers from a heart attack
Every 45 seconds someone in America dies from a heart attack
The most common cause of death in America is: heart attack
Risk of having heart attack by average American: 50%. Risk of having a heart attack by average American vegetarian: less than 4%.
Amount you reduce your risk of heart attack by eliminating meat, dairy and eggs from your diet: over 90%
Increased risk of breast cancer for women who eat meat compared to non-meat eaters: over 4 times
Increased risk of fatal prostate cancer for men who consume animal products compared to vegetarians: 3.6 times higher
Increased risk of fatal ovarian cancer for women who consume animal products compared to vegetarians: 3 times higher
THESE ARE VERY SCARY STATS AND I’M CERTAIN THAT CANADIANS FALL UNDER SIMILAR STATISTICS AS THE TWO COUNTRIES BOTH EAT PARALLEL DIETS.
Some of the diseases commonly prevented , improved and often cured by a low-fat, vegetarian diet include: Strokes, kidney stones, prostrate cancer, diabetes, peptic ulcers, hemorrhoids, obesity, salmonellosis, heart disease, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, stomach cancer, hiatus hernias, gallstones, arthritis, trichinosis, osteoporosis, colon cancer, ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, constipation, diverticulosis, irritable bowel and gout. These are just a few.
