Juicing

Juicing is a great way to make certain you are getting your daily servings of veggies and fruit.  It is a great way to have a liquid meal that nourishes your body with enzymes, vitamins and minerals while at the same time, giving your digestive system a rest.    Juice fasting is a great way to cleanse your body and many people have cured themselves from serious illness following a juice regime.

I have been juicing for well over 10 years now.  Rarely do I miss my morning elixer of fresh pressed organic vegetables and fruits.  It is part of my morning routine just like brushing my teeth.    If I am travelling and unable to get that morning blend I do miss it.   For those times I carry a  green superfood powder to  mix with spring water to substitute for that fresh pressed juice I can’t get while on the go.

My favorite juicer is the Champion Juicer.   It is easy to clean and has never let me down.  The pulp  removed from the juicer after juicing can be used in soups, casseroles, loafs etc.  Waste not.

When you juice fruit and veggies it is important to drink the juice as soon as you have pressed it.  That is when it is the most powerful and oxidation has not started.  Fresh is best.  The longer you leave it after pressing the less vitality it will have so drink it right away.  It is best to take your juice into your mouth and kind of swish it to activate the saliva and digestive enzymes.  A green juice can help to mineralize your teeth so the swishing around before swallowing is a good idea.

I usually stick to the same ingredients varying a bit from time to time as per the contents of my veggie drawer in the fridge.  My rule of thumb is to always start with a leafy green and I usually make that organic kale.  It is not always easy to get organic kale.  If I can’t get my hands on that then I will use organic spinach, organic parsley or organic swiss chard.  I always press organic celery and organic cucumber and an organic apple.  Most of the time I have organic beets in my inventory and add a wedge of beet to the juicer.  I press fresh organic ginger and a lemon wedge.    I may add a carrot to the juicer from time to time.  That is my daily eye opener.

Drinking this powerful beverage each morning has helped me lose weight, maintain my weight, smooth out my complexion and so much more.

I recommend juicing to everyone.

Here is a recipe to make your own fresh and health promoting V8 minus all of the sodium and preservatives.  Use organic if you can.  Wash all of the veggies before juicing.

Press 1 celery stalk, 1 medium carrot, 1/2 of a tomato, 1/4 of a cucumber, a handful of greens such as spinach or swiss chard, 1/2 of a red pepper, 1/2 cup of cabbage and 1 green onion.  Tasty and healthy.

If you would like to get into juicing I suggest you visit Upaya Naturals at http://www.upayanaturals.com/?Click=11349 to check out the juicers available there.  Once there click on “Kitchen Appliances”.  A drop down menu will come up.  Click juicers and the page will present you with several different juicers.  If you scroll down the page you will come across the Champion.  The other one I own is the Kempo which is great too.  It has as a few more parts to clean but is great for juicing wheatgrass as well as vegetables and fruit.  Either one will make you great juices.

Happy juicing!
