Not Trying To Convert

I had an interesting phone call the other day from a family friend who has been connected to our family for at least 30 years. He is a very dear friend with my Mom and they have kept in touch over the years. I met up with him recently at a family function and it was so nice to speak with him. I told him and his lovely wife about my website and they said they would certainly visit it.

A few days following the function this gentleman called me to congratulate me on my website. That was so nice to hear. Then in the second sentence he said “I just want you to know that you aren’t going to convert me….I love my red meat”. We chuckled together about his feelings in this regard.  I made it clear that it is not my intention at all  to convert him or any of my readers to a regime such as mine.

Vegetarian, vegan, raw vegan or meat eaters….it is all personal preference.  Our bodies know what works and if we honor our bodies then we will do what is right for ourselves. You know what makes your clock tick. I would never try to convince anybody to do what I do. I appreciate my friend feeling strong enough about the topic to voice that to me. Mr. M., I appreciate your honesty and keep on enjoying your meat.

When speaking with others about my nutrition I frequently hear people say “I wish I could give up meat” or I hear “I really like vegetables so maybe I should try to eat vegan“.  Your food choices are yours to make.  It is all about choices.  You have to ask yourself what you want to gain from your daily food intake.  I am a raw vegan for one reason and one reason only…..MY HEALTH!

What is your reason for eating the way you do?   Now that is “food for thought”.
