Giving Thanks

The Canadian Thanksgiving weekend just passed.  It was a beautiful weekend to celebrate and give thanks for the harvest of fruits and vegetables that nourish us.

I am grateful for everything in my life, big and small…from the lifestyle I live, to the people I share my life with.  I am thankful for having  “Quincy” who wags his tail when he is smiling at us, and I cherish the memories of 14 wonderful years with our little “Jackson” whom we just lost 6 weeks ago.    I am grateful for living in a country “strong and free“.   I am very aware and respectful of the beautiful planet we live on.  I love my family, value my friends.  I am grateful for my health which for many years, was taken for granted.  I am thankful for flowers, trees, rain, sunshine, smiles, music, books, raw chocolate, animals…. and the list goes on.

We have so much to be thankful for.  How many times do you actually stop what you are doing and think about things you are grateful for?  I have made it a part of my daily practice to sit quietly for a few moments and fill my heart with gratitude.  It breeds joy.

Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are.”  Marianne Williamson
